Where do I go first?
Last month, an article was published by the American College of Physicians that backs up one of the things I’ve been telling patients for 22 years. It is the answer to one of the most frequently asked questions, “Where do I go first when I have low back pain?” You may read the article in it’s entirety http://annals.org/aim/article/2603228/noninvasive-treatments-acute-subacute-chronic -low-back-pain-clinical-practice
So here is my answer to that question:
- Begin with stretching
- Next, come in to see me for an adjustment
- Add targeted treatments such as:
- Class IV laser
- Decompression therapy
- Acupuncture
- Biopuncture
- Exercise
- Mindfulness-based stress reduction
- massage
- Reduce inflammation in the body:
- Supplement with L-Arginine
- Supplement with Omega -3’s
- Cut out Sugar
- Change your fats to healthy fats
- If these therapies fail, add NSAID’S
- Prescription drugs
- Last resort: Surgery
