Two people, side by side in a room, both having washed their hands while singing Row Row Row your Boat 3 times before rinsing, and applying hand sanitizer generously… one walks away and gets sick while the other one does not. How can that be?
While prevention techniques advocated by the CDC are important, there is yet another important factor that we need to consider. A strong, healthy immune system!
Here are a few ideas from Dr. Rick Franks, Chiropractic Lifecare of America’s Health Newsletter to help you catch the “disease of the century”:
As we are all going through this crazy once-in-a-lifetime experience, I thought I’d throw out a few thoughts and ideas that you will NOT see on TV anytime in the near future. Maybe one or two of these thoughts will help you think and see things a little differently after reading this. As many of you already know, we chiropractors think a little differently than the majority of the population (many call us weird, but I’ve been called a lot worse, especially by my tennis buddies). We say crazy things like “True health and healing come from within us instead of from pills, potions and lotions”, or “We need to rely on a fully functioning nervous system for a better chance at being healthier”, and “Your resistance to disease determines how healthy you will be” are just a few that come to mind. With that being said, I thought it would be great to talk a little bit about this coronavirus issue that is set to destroy the world as we know it if you listen to the fear-driven media. This might also demonstrate just how “differently” we think than “normal” people. First a few facts:1. Our bodies are made up of approximately 6 trillion cells. We also have around 60 trillion bacteria living inside us. Add to that 380 trillion viruses inhabiting our bodies right now (and you thought bacteria and viruses were always bad for us) The wonderful thing about this is that each of these work beautifully in concert within each of us to keep us healthy as we know it. Crazy isn’t it? That information right there should rock your health paradigm a little, right? So with all the experts telling you how to wash your hands, drink water (what our moms also told us) and distance yourself from others in order to prevent this “disease of the century”, I want to show something different…how to “catch” it! Ready? Here we go… 1. Eat a poor diet. Make sure your body lacks the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and micronutrients needed for optimal health. Eat lots of white things that have ingredients that you can’t pronounce or sound like they were made in a chemist’s shop. Keep sugar and white flour at the top of your list of foods to eat! 2. See how late you can stay up at night. Avoid adequate rest. Stay up late and rely on sugar, tobacco, coffee and energy drinks in order to keep you going. The less sleep you get and the more tired you become, the better chances you’ll have when the virus rears its ugly head. 3. Allow yourself to become dehydrated. Reduce the effectiveness of your natural defense mechanisms by shunning adequate water. Just because your body is 80% water doesn’t mean that you need to replenish it often. So by all means, do not drink half your body weight in water every day! 4. Stop exercising (or definitely don’t start now). Reduce the efficiency of your lymphatic system (the garbage collection system of your body), which depends on movement to help remove dead and dying debris and other toxins from your body. 7. Don’t wash your hands. Then constantly rub your eyes, pick your nose and wipe your lips. This will provide a “superhighway” for all kinds of viruses to enter your system. 9. Think negative thoughts. Worry that you’ll be the next victim. Did you ever hear someone say, “I’m worried sick”? Guess what usually happens? And by all means, closely monitor news reports about outbreaks and how it’s coming your way! Keep score of the number of people that get it and know that, “I’m probably next!” And by all means, stay stressed! Medical research estimates as much as 90 percent of illness and disease is stress-related. This can be physical, mental, nerve or a combination of all. These stresses interfere with your physical functioning and bodily processes, so keep watching the news, listen to your negative friends and by all means live on social media! 8. By all means, skip your chiropractic adjustments. This is a big one! Handicap your nervous system, the master system that controls your entire body and specifically your nerve system (which just happens to control your immune system). Gray’s Anatomy states that “every organ, system and function of … central nervous system is the master control … resistance in it modifies the immune response”. Listen, the only way to “catch” anything is to make yourself a hospitable host! Do you think that all the people that have breathed or ingested the virus get sick? No, no, no! The truth is many people have breathed or ingested it, but their system has successfully fought off the attackers because of…wait for it… a strong immune system. We see many people wearing those flimsy, ill-fitting paper masks. What they don’t realize is that the perforations that permit breathing are huge compared to the single-cell virus they are trying to keep out. Others will apply all manner of disinfectants in the hope that killing every germ around will keep you healthy. Remember what I said about how many germs and viruses are already living in your body? Fed by the 24/7 news cycle, fear mongering is the perfect way to attract more people, thus increasing their bottom line. It’s not the seed, it’s the soil Here’s a thought…think of germs as seeds. In fact, when seeds begin to grow, we refer to it as ‘germination.’ If you’ve ever tried to start a new lawn from scratch, you already know that conditions have to be just right for the grass seeds to germinate. For example, if you were to spread grass seed (germs) on your concrete driveway (the host), it wouldn’t become a new lawn. The necessary conditions for growth – soil, water and light – wouldn’t be correct. The same thinking applies to germs. The conditions have to be just right for disease to manifest. Now that you know how to “catch” this killer, my best advice is to start rising above the hysteria and mob mentality. Be a voice of reason and composure. And the truth. Do the things our mamas used to teach us and strengthen your immune system through regular chiropractic adjustments. There is a CURE! Simply put, if there were no cure, everyone that contracted the flu would die. And this cure comes from the same intelligence that created you in the first place. Just as a cut or a bruise heals, so can colds, flus, viruses, and anything else (provided that the nerve system is working up to its potential). It’s how we were built. It’s been working since we’ve been on this earth. And it will continue to work. It doesn’t need help, it just doesn’t need interference. So you can call me weird but I call it simple common sense. Thank you for reading. If one person really gets this, it will have been worth the effort! And if you agree, please forward this newsletter on to a friend. You just might save a life. Dr. Rick Franks P.S. With the children out of school, don’t you think it would be a great time to get them checked for nerve interference? They have a nervous system and a developing immune system also! |
